Lush gardens with magnificent views from the covered, fully equipped veranda surrounding the house overlook the fish pond which makes for an idyllic holiday in the protected park
Town: South Africa, Phalaborwa, Lompopo province, PhalaborwaOriginally a mining town (and still home to the Palabora Mining Company), over the years it has developed into a tourist attraction. The mine is an open hole dug by man of almost 2000 meters wide, and clearly visible from the air. Tourism and nature play a dominant role in the life of this city. It is the only city in South Africa, bordering the Kruger National Park, Mozambique\'s border is just two hours away. The Hans Merensky Golf Estate is situated on the outskirts of town. The city has a twice-a-day air link with Johannesburg, and is easily accessible on the well constructed roads.
The location is near Tzaneen and Hoedspruit attractions. Blyde River Canyon, the Rondavels, God\'s Window and Bourke\'s Luck Potholes, can be visited during a day trip by car.
The name \'Ba-Phalaborwa\' was given by the Sotho tribes who moved here from the south. It means literally: Better than the south! The Sotho tribes mined and melted copper and iron ore, going back as far back as 1700 years . Near the Phalaborwa entrance to the Kruger Park, a reconstructed Ba-Phalaborwa hilltop village with huts, granaries, and an iron smelting site can be visited .
