Description of objectThe stone farmhouse has been restored as a holiday home by the owners. It is located on the grounds of Agriturismo 'La Fonte” below the small town Panicale, near Lake Trasimeno in Umbria. The central place during the summer surely is the large loggia with direct access to the kitchen. The rooms are simply furnished. A curiosity on the ground floor is certainly the huge fireplace. In the winter you can sit on wooden benches around the fire. Upstairs is another furnished lounge with fireplace, from which the three bedrooms, two of them are with private bathrooms and one shared bathroom. The upper floor can also be reached by a separate exterior staircase. The swimming pool and spacious sun terrace of the Agriturismo are located in proximity to the house. It can easily be reached either by car (private road) or by foot.
Location of objectThe region of Umbria offers especially for nature and culture lovers a wide range of possibilities. Numerous recreational activities in close proximity to the holiday house: sailing, surfing, swimming in nearby Lake Trasimeno. Hiking, horseback riding and biking in the hilly surroundings, play golf at the Golf Club Lamborghini. Trips to major art and cultural centres in central Italy by car. Rome and Florence are reachable by train in less than two hours.
Town: Italy, Lago Trasimeno, PanicaleLike many places in central Italy, Panicale in the Middle Ages was built as a small town surrounded by a wall (Borgo). Inside the Borgo, the three central sites are created at different levels, emblematic of the social relations of power in the Middle Ages: The lowest place served as a marketplace and wells. One the next higher level the church of San Michele Arcangelo stands for the power of the church. Situated at the highest point of the village, at the present Piazza Masolino, the majestic Palazzo del Podestà overlooked the entire place as a centre of secular political power.
