Description of objectMeydieu is a newly renovated 19th century farmhouse set in a peaceful location surrounded by picturesque countryside.Meydieu is set in about 8 acres. The garden is about 3 acres, mostly grass with a number of trees including peach, pear, hazelnut and walnut. There are terraces on three sides of the house. The lake is not owned by us, but our guests are permitted to use it for fishing. Meydieu has 200 sqm of accommodation on two levels . The house is ideal for six people, but can easily accommodate up to nine. Ground floor Bedroom with king size bed. En-suite shower room with hand basin, bidet and WC. Spacious open plan lounge with wood burning fire and three piece suite. For the colder months we have under floor heating. Dining area with pine table which easily seats ten. Well equipped kitchen with modern oak units and granite worktops. Separate shower room with hand basin, and WC. First floor Bedroom 2 with double four-poster bed and single bed. The single bed could be moved to bedroom 3 if required. En-suite Bathroom with separate shower, hand basin, bidet and WC. Bedroom 3 with double bed. En-suite shower room with hand basin, bidet and WC. Large landing with sofa bed. *** Safety *** Please note that whilst children are welcome, Meydieu is a farm. The property is not fenced. There are farm buildings and some farm equipment. The lake is about 50m from the house. Location of objectThe nearest town of any size is Cancon, about 5 miles away. They have some larger shops, a couple of restaurants and a bank. Villeneuve–sur-Lot is about 17 miles away and has two retail parks with all the usual large French stores, Leclerc, Auchan etc.In the immediate vicinity, there are golf courses at Tombeboeuf (9 holes) 6 miles away and a superb course at Castlenaud 10 miles away. There are lakes at Tombeboeuf and Lougrat. Meydieu is located between the Lot and Dordogne rivers. All the normal river activities are catered for such as boat trips and canoe hire. Monbahus, though not a bastide town itself, is on the “Circuit des Bastides” and many are nearby including Castillones, Monflanquin, Castlenaud and Villereal. SW France revolves around food and wine. The nearest vineyards are at Duras and Bergerac. Buzet, Cahors and even the Bordeaux vineyards are within striking distance. Restaurants in the area tend to be traditional with the emphasis on fois gras and duck. The quality is high and the prices are reasonable, especially at lunchtime. Many areas are equally proud of their fois gras but the Lot-et-Garonne is the undisputed king when it comes to prunes, and Cancon is the self-proclaimed hazelnut capital of France. Town: France, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, MonbahusMonbahus is a working agricultural village untouched by the tourist industry. There are a number of foreign owned properties in the area, but these seem to have been absorbed into the local community without affecting it too much.The village has all the essentials, baker, butcher, two mini markets, pharmacy, garage and a post office. There is a Portuguese bar restaurant, a useful place to stop for a drink after a hard days sight seeing. It may be possible to arrange changeovers on other days in the low season to take advantage of cheaper flights.A discount will be available for lets of more than two weeks. A set of linen and towels per person per week will be provided. Please bring your own pool towels. Your welcome pack will include fresh bread and milk along with some other essentials. A cash deposit of £100/150 Euros for breakages is required. |
