Description of objectOn the sunshine coast in the beautiful region of Vendee. Boasting stunning countryside and a uniquie microclimate. Short walk from the 13km beach with soft golden sands. An abundance of things to see and do. Catering for all ages and interests. Available all year. The modern house (built 2004) is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, with a safe and sheltered fenced garden of oak and pine woodland.
Location of objectThe road from l’Aiguillon brings you out on a roundabout with La Tranche signed to the left. Follow this. The next roundabout features Super-U – if you have time, it might be worth noting its opening times! They are different off-season. There is also a good hardware store here, Catena. Follow signs to ‘Le Phare’. The route takes you past two sets of traffic lights, and then you pass the Gendarmerie on your right. Turn into Rue de la Phare, with speed bumps and speed limit. Fork right at junction with Le Phare decorative tiling. Carry on past Le Nautile restaurant on your left until you get to a roundabout. Turn right (second exit) along Rue de la Vigie. Take first turn left – it’s very sharp, you may miss it, Allee des Dauphins. There are a couple of false alarms before you take this – the first is just access to the back of the shops by the lighthouse, and the second is a no through road. Once in Allee des Dauphins, take first right, Allee du Corps de Garde, which looks on the map as if it has an island along it. It isn’t – think someone put their garden there. So the road bends round to the left, then you take the first right, which is Rue du fond des Rois. Immediately right there is a cul-de-sac, Impasse du Fond des Rois, and the three houses at the end are all No 5! You’ll recognise Tooting Plage from the photo – it’s the farthest on the left.

Local food and wine:
La Tranche’s microclimate makes ideal growing conditions for fruit, flowers and vegetables.
Local produce can be seen growing – and then on the stalls in the markets and shops.
The area is also famed for its seafood, particularly oysters.
One of the nicest local restaurants has about eight different ways of serving mussels – or you can have straightforward moules frites!
There are plenty of caves offering wines from the area and further a field. Do also try pineau, the local aperitif.
