Description of objectInchimore is a traditional stone farmhouse to which a huge kitchen/dining room has been added. The windows on the north and east sides give a panoramic view of the valley. A Rayburn range heats the water and radiators and can be used for cooking if you need an addition to the gas cooker. Upstairs is a large bathroom with a shower over the bath and a toilet. An immersion heater supplements the Rayburn water system. Off the kitchen is a shower room which doubles as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. There’s a second toilet in the shower room.
Location of objectAt Inchimore, you are a short distance from Killarney and the world renowned Ring of Kerry. Our own personal favourite, The Ring of Beara is even closer. A lovely day can be spent enjoying Gougan Barra with its ancient monastery and forest, which you can walk or drive through, have lunch in the hotel or the small café or picnic beside the lovely lake. A short trip by ferry from Glengarriff will take you to Garinish Island, home of Ilnacullin, the Italian Gardens designed by Harold Peto. To travel to Glengarriff or Bantry, you cross the pass heading south of the farm into County Cork. The road was built at the time of the famine. You can see the amazing walls and culverts which are doubly impressive when you think they were built by starving men, women and children with scarcely more than shovels and wheelbarrows and often not even a pair of shoes to wear.
Town: Ireland, South-west Ireland, KilgarvanThe village of Kilgarvan is 10km away from our farm. Here you will find two village stores, one with a filling station and post office. The Village Grill provides basic meals and take-aways and there are six pubs some with live music. Kilgarvan Church celebrated its centenary in 2008. A further 10km away is the delightful market town of Kenmare—winner of the 2008 fiercely contested Tidy Towns competition. Wednesday is market day in Kenmare with cattle and sheep markets about once a month. A huge variety of clothes, craft and gift shops line the brightly coloured main streets of the town. There are supermarkets, pharmacies, a post office and the many pubs and restaurants provide a wide variety of places to eat. Several interesting historical sites can be found in and near the town and you can take part in Kenmare’s Walking Festival. Live music is to be found in many of the pubs and hotels in Kenmare and Killarney too. The Tourist Information Centre provides lots more information and gifts. Above it is the famous Kenmare lace museum where you can learn the history of lace making in Kenmare and also see it made. Find out more about Kilgarvan
