Description of objectLa glycine (Wisteria) is the first of the two gites containing a living/dining with a wood burning stove and a kitchen area. Comfortably furnished with a large sofa, bouncy armchair, coffee tables, rug and TV, DVD, CD player, dining table and chairs to seat 4. The kitchen corner contains an electric cooker, toaster, microwave, electric kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine and all necessary pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils. The spacious master bedroom is on a mezzanine floor in the converted loft (grenier) and has a vaulted ceiling with exposed ancient oak beams, bedside tables with lamps, a set of drawers, clothes hanging area and, an ensuite shower room with wc and basin. The twin bedded room is downstairs, accessed by a couple of steps down from the living room. It has a set of drawers with bedside lamps, a wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with shower, wc, basin and bidet.Le chevrefeuille is the same although a little smaller and contains the same creature comforts but with 2 ensuite shower rooms. We have a collection of DVDs, books and indoor games for less clement weather as well as outdoor games including a boules pitch planned for this summer. These are all available for guests free of charge The gites are set in a large garden with plenty of grassed area for sunbathing. Outside each gite there is a paved patio area separated by trellis fencing for privacy with a BBQ and a wooden picnic table with parasol. The property is not totally enclosed, therefore young children would need to be supervised Location of objectLeaving St Malo, take the Tout Directions route, then the N137 for Rennes. Approaching Rennes you will then need to take the circular road (Rocade) sign posted to Lorient. Nantes, and Le Mans. Do not follow the 'Centre ville' road. Continue on the circular until junction 6 - direction Nantes. Take this exit (N137 – E3). Stay on the N137, passing Bain-de-Bretagne, Grand Fougeray and then take the exit for Derval (D537). At Derval take the D775 signposted to Guemene Penfao and Redon.Approaching Guemene Penfao, you will drive down a steep winding hill and after passing a garage on the right and Creperie on the left reach a roundabout. Take the 3rd exit, you will drive over a bridge (river Don) and immediately on the other side you will see a sign post on the left for Vally du Don, Juzet etc., take that turn. A little way along there will be a small road on the right with Lottisment de Gascaigne, go past and take the next available right turn (it's just after a bend) this is a very small turning with a sign - etang de Gascaigne on the left. Follow the road and you will pass a nice barn conversion on the left, a farm complex on the right, another dwelling on the left with a large porta bin outside. You will see a drive virtually opposite it on the right - this is not mine. Carry on a little bit further round the bend past a fence made of wheels on the right and then it's the Les Quatre Cles drive. Town: France, Pays de trois rivieres, Guemene PenfaoGuemene Penfao lies almost in the centre of the Pays de 3 Rivieres. The town is on the river Don but the Isac and Brivet rivers are not far away. It is a magical area with beautiful scenery and so much to do, it’s difficult to know where to begin. There is something for everyone; wonderful walks through forests, ancient chateaux, chapels and churches to visit, a local pottery, water sports of every kind including the town’s indoor pool with spa and Jacuzzi and a lake with a safe beach area in nearby Plesse, 4 riding stables to suit all abilities, and then of course there’s food. There are over 18 restaurants listed in the local area guide book and plenty more besides. There are 10 bars and restaurants in Guemene Penafo alone. Les quatre cles is about a 3 minute drive from the town centre or easily reached on foot in about 15 minutes. The swimming pool can also be reached by a footpath across a field, the river Don, with a very stimulating climb up steps on the other side.For those with golfing instincts, there are 2 wonderful 18 hole championship courses at Savenay and Missillac (Golf de la Bretche – breathtaking scenery with a chateau to die for) both 20 miles away and 9 hole courses at Caden – 24 miles and Treffiex – 15 miles. Even though the area itself has so much to offer, there are many other places worth visiting within easy reach, such as Josselin with its magnificent chateau and the summer productions of ‘son et lumiere’ which are staged there, or for car enthusiasts there’s Loheac which is home to the largest motor museum in France. The French national rallycross championships are held there with opportunities to have lessons in saloon car and go-cart racing. Or how about spending a day in Paris, under 3 hours away direct from Redon Station which is only a 15 minute drive away. The historic cities of Rennes, Nantes, St Nazaire, the beaches of La Baule and the vineyards of the Loire are all within easy driving distance for a wonderful day out.
