Description of objectCasa da Professora is situated in the old centre of Fuseta, near the Ria Formosa lagoon. This semi-detached-house was built about 1900 and was used until 1974 by the teacher (“a professora”) of the old school as her private quarters. In 2001 the right half of the house was carefully renovated. Thanks to the owner’s knowledge in the protection of historical buildings, the result was a property retaining its previous charm, but with modern comforts. High rooms, timber ceilings and pieces of antique furniture create a homely atmosphere. After entering the splendid entrance hall with a large desk, an old, creaking wooden staircase leads up to the first floor. On this floor is a spacious bedroom with a large double bed and a bright south-facing living room, and access to the terrace with views over to Fuseta and the Ria Formosa. To get to the ground floor again you can use a small outdoor spiral staircase. The dining area is stylishly furnished with an oval wooden table, chairs, an antique style sideboard and a chandelier. What is now a service hatch to the fully equipped kitchen used to be an old window! On the ground floor there is also a separate room with an extra bed, a bathroom with shower, toilet and bidet. Under-floor heating on the ground floor ensures enough warmth if necessary in the Portuguese winters. The first floor is heated with a small electric oven and sunlight, of which there is plenty, even at cooler times of the year.
Location of objectThis charming town house is part of the historic, little city of Fuseta. In one of the narrow streets, the holiday house clings to the adjacent neighbor. The view from the roof terrace is in direction to the lagoon over to the Atlantic. A great place for city, beach and sight-seeing.
Town: Portugal, Ost-/ Eastern Algarve, Fuseta-OlhãoFuseta is an old fishing village and is situated directly on the Ria Formosa. There is a small sandy beach which is very good for children, an extensive quay with plenty of fishing boats, numerous cafés and restaurants. In the summer season there is a ferry service to the fantastic Atlantic beach nearby. Casa da Professora is in the old centre of the town in a small traffic-free square. It’s just few steps to the market and Ria-Avenida, and the railway station (Faro-Vila Real d. Sto. António) is near enough to walk, so this accommodation is ideal for visitors without a car.
