The house is situated in the walled city of Vittoriosa, right behind the Palace of the Inquisition and a stone's throw from the luxury yachts of the Marina. Location of objectIndulgence Divine is situated in the Collacchio area, a confined place where only the Knights were allowed to enter. All but one of the old Auberges of the Order are located in this area. The road itself is named after the first Inquisitor of the islands - Fabio Chigi who later became a Pope.Indulgence Divine is a ten minute walk from some of the yachts of the rich and powerful in the Marina where various restaurants and cafes can be found. Within short walking distance is the War in Malta museum as well as the Palace of the Inquisitor. 12 minutes away from Valletta, Malta's capital city. Even shorter time by water taxi across the amazing Grand Harbour Town: Malta, Malta, BirguVittoriosa's origins reach back to prehistoric times. With its medieval style alleys it was the Knights of St John's choice when they first arrived on the islands in 1530, so they built Auberges and settled here before Grandmaster La Vallette decided to build a new city just across the Grand Harbour. The Great Siege was won here and that is when the city started to be known as Vittoriosa.The friendly village atmosphere of the city is immedietly manifest the minute you step out into its street, frequently decorated with cared for plants. There is always something happening in Vittoriosa - the locals love a celebration and indulge in parades, processions and feasts galore. Any excuse is good for decorating the streets with colourful banners and candles. Main attractions are the Maritime Museum by the beautiful Marina and the Palace of the Inquisitor, both a stone's throw from Indulgence Divine. Before the arrival of the Knights, Vittoriosa already attracted those who controlled the shipping lanes in the Middle Sea. Its Castle of St Angelo dominated the harbour in ancient times but already the Pheonicians are said to have built a temple to Astarte before 550BC.PLACES TO VISIT: Inquisitor's Palace One of few surviving worldwide. Look out for the graffiti on cell walls. Re-live the Inquisition. Malta Maritime Museum Exhibits such as mid-18th century model of Order’s vessel and in old British Naval Bakery. Fort St Angelo Jewel in the crown of the islands, played great role in 1565 Great Siege. The Norman House Although parts of the house dates from 13th century, window and façade are 15th century. Malta at War Museum Guided tour in English through World War II underground shelter. St Lawrence Oratory Museum La Valette’s sword and hat amongst exhibits, expertly elucidated by Mr Zahra on Mondays. Fortifications From Fort St Angelo walk along the fortifications along water’s edge on Kalkara side and back to Three Gates.
