Description of objectThis newly completed village house is spacious, light and airy and has the most stunning views across the Rio Santo gorge in Albuñuelas. It has all the modern amenities you would need, yet retaining the traditional charm of the Andalucian village houses found here. The house is well-equipped with hot and cold air-conditioning making it ideal for all year round lets. There is a large lounge/dining area with comfy sofas and with TV & SKY satellite. In the kitchen there is a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer. Downstairs there is also a cloakroom with WC and washbasin. The special feature of the house is that the owners have paid special attention to it being child-friendly, with safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs and also at the top of the stairs up to the entrance. There is also a travel cot and high chair available at no extra cost. For summer there is a communal pool shared by this small group of houses and also a terrace area perfect for soaking up the sun. A secure underground car park space is included rather than having to find a space on the narrow village streets.
Location of objectAlbuñuelas is ideally located between Granada, with its Alhambra and Moroccan quarter, and the Costa Tropical (approx 30 mins drive). The ski resort of Sol Y Nieve in the Sierra Nevada is within driving distance (45 mins) and Las Alpujarras is around 30 mins drive too. The area is well served by Malaga airport (90 mins) and now the airport at Granada (35 mins) has incoming Ryanair flights from Liverpool and Stansted and Monarch flights from Gatwick. Town: Spain, Valle de Lecrin, AlbunuelasAlbuñuelas was on the route of the first Arab traders, and the epic GR7 walk from Gibraltar to Istanbul passes through (one of the GR7 markers can be seen on the wall). The name Albuñuelas means 'abundance' and you can certainly see that from the variety of produce- olives, oranges, grapes, lemons, avocados to name just a few. You certainly get a chance to try out your Spanish language skills as many of the locals do not speak any English, and don't be surprised to see a donkey or mule going past your door as it is still a means of transport for the farmers here.
There are no cars in the old Barrio Bajo of Albuñuelas, although donkeys pass the ground floor windows of the house each day on their way to work in the orange and olive groves. Freshly baked bread and fish from the coast can be bought each day from hawkers in the square below the church. There are bars restaurants and village shops within walking distance and the village square has a weekly market on Thursdays.
While the tradtional Spanish way of life is preserved in Albuñuelas, it is still only 30 minutes from the historic city of Granada, with the stunning Alhambra Palace (one of the most beautiful buildings in the world) elegant plazas, fountains, wonderful tapas bars, Moorish bath houses and a vibrant souk in the Moroccan quarter. The Sierra Nevada Ski resort and the Costa Tropical are both also within easy reach.
