Description of objectSituated between the sea and mountains, our vacation home is in a new, modern, gated complex,with a large residents pool. Just a 3 minute walk to the beach. 5 kilometre from historic Pizzo and beautiful Tropea is just 30 minutes south.Whether you seek a peaceful relaxing holiday, or want to be within easy reach of activities and sightseeing-this is the place. Enjoy days by the pool, on the beach or explore the countryside with its hilltop villages with their 'old world' charm. If its history and culture that interests you, the area has a rich heritage from Calabria's Greek and Roman occupants, with further relics from Byzantium, Renaissance and Baroque periods to explore. The central region has the conservation areas of the Silo and Aspromonte National Parks with their valleys, lakes and hills offering outdoor pursuits such as hiking, and pony trekking. Our vacation apartment, as your base, offers more than your average family beach holiday. Location of objectBuilt 2009, this ground floor apartment is 300m from the beach. It includes a secure private grassed garden where children can play safely. The apartment is wheelchair/pushchair accessible. Each room is individually air conditioned. Can sleep 6. Secure parking within the complex.Outside Shared communal areas- secure landscaped grounds, with grassed areas and palm trees (970 m2 , fenced), large swimming pool in communal garden, 18 metres x 12 metres with outside shower. Pool open 1st April to 30th September. Free access to pool loungers and sun brollys when the pool is open. A 25% non refundable deposit secures the booking & balance is due 6 weeks before arrival. On arrival a key-breakage deposit of 100 Euro is payable - returned on satisfactory inspection & return of keys at departure A 5 Euro per person per week is charged on arrival for freshly laundered bedlinen Town: Italy, Calabria, PizzoCalabria is natural, unspoilt and relatively undiscovered by tourists. Our west coast home is well situated to explore both coast and inland.Nearby Pizzo Town, 5 kilometres to the south is one of Calabrias prettiest towns. Full of alleyways, turn a corner and in front of you is an amazing sea view! Down the coast to the south is Tropea, with its magnificent churches, atmospheric alleyways, gorgeous sea views, coastline & beaches. People come from all over the world to glimpse the houses built into the sheer cliff-side. Further south still, an hours drive from Pizzo is Reggio di Calabria, whose museum houses the famous Riace Bronzes. Sicily is only a short ferry trip from here. Drive inland from Pizzo to Serra San Bruno, to see its wonderful Cathusian monastery, walk in the forest then return via SS110 road heading south towards Stilo- this is one of Calabrias most spectacular drives through fields of fragrant wild flowers and pine forests. Visit old villages perched on hillsides in the mountainous interior as well as the Sila and Apromonte National Parks. which are beautiful, especially in Spring and Autumn. Boat trips to the Aeolian Islands are worthwhile, especially the evening cruise to Stromboli. Calabrias festivals are religious or gastronomic. Given the influences of the Ancient Greeks, Romans, Normans, Byzantine, French and Spanish, the events are colourful and dramatic. The gastronomic festivals are based on the successful harvesting of crops so are seasonal and the food is fresh, at its best and wholesome. A number of bars and restaurants catering for all tastes are within easy walking distance. Pizzo is famous for ice cream, Tartufo.
