Description of objectGentleSpace is a family company operating two self-catering apartments in the center of Isafjordur, the largest town on Iceland's Westfjords.The Fjarðarstræti apartment is located on the 1st floor, and has a peaceful environment inside and out. Large tiled balcony with ocean/mountain views. Private parking lot. Lawn in front, ocean in back. A welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits awaits guests upon arrival. All-new kitchen being installed for the summer 2011 season. Open from 15 June - 30 August 2011. Location of objectLooking like an enormous claw stretching out to sea, the Westfjords are known for sheer sea cliffs and long, narrow fjords. This part of Iceland is geographically rugged, a place where survival has always been uncertain, which explains its sparse population. The entire region comprises only about 8% of Iceland's land mass, while its beautiful and meandering shoreline makes up about 35% of the country’s coast.Fishing villages have grown and prospered in the fjords closest to the rich fishing grounds, while other parts are virtually untouched. The northwest tip of the Westfjords is Hornstrandir, a now uninhabited 600-km2 wilderness reserve of inspired natural beauty and undisturbed wildlife where nature lives in peace with itself.
