Description of objectThe “Herberge Tausch” is a lovingly restored Saxon farmhouse located in the very heart of our little village that used to belong to the Tausch family, an old Saxon family – hence the name....
The house features four apartments, all with their own bathroom and a WC. In the middle of the house on the ground floor is a large open plan shared kitchen (fully equipped with gas cooker (4 flames), an oven, washing machine etc.) and a large dining area with Saxon benches running along two walls providing comfortable seating for up to 10 persons.
All apartments a tastefully furnished with tailor made handcrafted pieces of furniture made from various local types of wood such as Carpathian oak, maple, pine and walnut.
From the kitchen you can access two beautiful little apartments, one upstairs (Apartment 1) and one downstairs (Apartment 2), each featuring a private balcony / terrace and a separate modern bathroom with shower / bath, WC and a washbasin. Of the hall you can access another two charming apartments facing the street. While Apartment 3 features a very nice en-suite bathroom with a shower, WC and washbasin, you have to access the separate bathroom and toilet for Apartment 4 through the hall. Both rooms offer -due to their elevated position- great views across the street towards the rolling hills beyond, especially in the evening sunset...
The enclosed yard of the “Herberge Tausch” is a tranquil haven of peace and quiet. It is – as all Saxon yards are – completely private with a large iron gate towards the street and you can relax under a very large roofed terrace, that also boasts a large grill. The rest of the yard is an inviting lawn, on which you may relax and sunbathe in some of the many chairs and sun lounges we provide. Over the past few years we have also been able to breed some very nice traditional rose stocks along the sidewalk of the yard....

Town: Romania, Transsylvanien, Cund / ReussdorfThe tiny village Cund in Transilvania is located in the centre of the Carpathian Mountains close to the the mediaeval town of Sigisoara, the alleged birthplace of the legendary Count Dracula. The village is still strongly influenced by the traditions and customs of the Saxon community, that populated this area for the last 750 years. Authentic and cordial family traditions and customs characterise the simple life of the local population of which most are self sufficient farmers who warmly welcome visitors. The overwhelming beauty and peaceful tranquillity of the natural surroundings allow room for consideration - without any distracting influences - and are the perfect setting for a holiday where you can relax all your senses. As soon as you leave the village you will find many tracks and open land you may freely walk on four hours without meeting a single person... Cund is also an ideal base for exploring the many attractive old towns and cities in Transilvania. Within a radius of 100 km you can visit the old saxon towns of Sibiu (European Cultural Capital 2007), Sighisoara, Medias, Brasov, Bistritza, Agnita, Foggerasch, Regin and Tirgu Mures.
