Description of objectCastara Cottage is an open, natural style house situated on the point between Castara’s 2 beautiful bays of Castara. The cottage is just 1 minutes walk from both beaches and surrounded by rainforest covered hills, and close to a local waterfall. The two-storey house offers flexible and comfortable accommodation for up to 11 adults in 3 apartments.Tamarind and Cinnamon are two bedroomed apartments sleeping up to four people each, and Saffron is a large studio apartment which can accommodate two adults and one child. Each apartment has its own entrance way, kitchen and bathroom with hot water. The upper and lower apartments have large living / kitchen areas, opening out to wooden decks with views of the sea and surrounding fruit trees. Exotic birds love to fly up to the breakfast table and banana, mango, paw paw, grapefruit and breadfruit trees grow within arms reach. The bright and airy studio apartment has very large wooden shuttered windows which open up to offer a view of a splendid mango tree and a glimpse of the sea. Tamarind and Saffron are interconnected and can be opened up into a larger apartment, which can accommodate up to 6 adults, a baby and a toddler. This option is very popular with groups of friends and large families with children and teenagers. All beds have large mosquito nets supported by wooden corner posts. Sheets and towels are supplied and changed twice weekly. You’ll be surrounded by a tropical rainforest with exotic birds and fireflies at night. You won’t need air conditioning or TVs, as nature provides fresh pure breezes, bird song and fantastic views all day long. Bring your binoculars. The bird life and the night skies are incredible. Castara Cottage has views of mountains and the surrounding rain forest covered hills, which cascade down to the sun drenched beaches of the northern and southern bays of Castara. There's fine snorkeling on the beach at your doorstep - a coral reef lies within 100 meters of the shore. Don't expect jet skis or water skiing or wind surfing - this is a fishing village. You can go on boat trips to fish, sightsee, or barbeque on isolated beaches ..... leave at dawn and come back with the setting sun. The perfect place to forget about your demanding life and just relax. You will not find a lot of action here, but there is always a chance to go on a trip around the island, just to come back in the evening and enjoy being in the best possible location.Castara does have a few guesthouses, but you will never find it over-crowded. There are few places to eat, so if you feel like cooking for yourself you can buy your groceries in the “city”, or in the supermarket on the way from the airport. Replenish your stock in the small local shops in the village. Don't miss out on the fresh fish at the fishermen's co-operative and the homemade bread at the clay oven twice per week. The water in Castara is very pure and is safe to drink. Castara has two beautiful bays – Big Bay and Little Bay. There is an unspoiled reef in Little Bay – great for snorkeling. Across the road, there is a charming little waterfall that you can reach by foot walking in the river. The big bay has lifeguards on duty every day of the week. The beach at the small bay is even shallower and perfect for supervised children. If you feel for a bit more action there are a wide range of tours – fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, sea kayaking, diving, golfing or even a day trip to Trinidad.
