Description of objectMountains and pine forests surround the apartment.The newly built first floor apartment, which is on a gated community has 2 twin bedrooms, sleeping 4 people. There is a lounge/diner, bathroom, galley kitchen, utility area(ample storage space for suitcases).The 50 square metre roof top solarium is where the WOW! factor hits you as the views across the mountains are stunning. The private solarium is accessed via the inside of the apartment. Facilities include: Air conditioning(cold in summer and hot in winter) DVD player, Satellite TV receiving all Spanish channels and English channels eg BBC and ITV and radio stations, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, clothes dryer, fridge, freezer,4 ring hob, oven,washing machine,microwave, sunbeds, table, chairs and BBQ. There is use of a shared swimming pool, small swimming pool( for children), bowling green and gardens at no extra cost. There is a twice weekly cleaning service included in the cost. Linen and towels are provided. Beach towels are not provided. Welcome pack can be provided at an additional cost. Smoking is not allowed in the apartment , but is allowed on the solarium. As the owners live only a 5 minute walk away personal attention is guaranteed. Advise can be given as to the best restaurants to eat at and the picturesque villages to visit. Also activities such as quad biking, horse riding can be pre booked if required. Location of objectThe new built apartment is situated in a gated community with detached villas adjacent to it. It lies in a valley surrounded by mountains and pine forests.There are several restaurants and bars within walking distance ( 500 metres) Town: Spain, CALASPARRA , CALASPARRAMurcia is a virtually undiscovered area of south eastern Spain. The region is called the 'Lake District of South East Spain' due to the varied landscape of reservoirs, rivers, majestic mountains, rice fields and vineyards. To the north extends the plains of La Mancha where Don Quixote fought against the windmills.To the south the popular beaches and resorts of the Costa Calida and to the west lies Granada.Calasparra is about 45K north west of Murcia city. The history of Calasparra strretches back to the Palaeolithic era. Cave paintings, Roman aqueducts on the outskirts of the town can still be seen. About 3K out of the town and only 1K from the apartment is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Hope. this is a shrine and a church in a cave carved out of the rocks by the River Segura. The shrine is the 4th most popular place of pilgrimage for the Spanish people. Calasparra today is a bustling rural town, most of its activities centring on the town square (Plaza de la Corredera) where there are a variety of cafes and bars. The whole community takes part in the major fiesta at the beginning of September. A range of musical concerts, processions, fireworks and the bull run take place over a week of celebration. Caravaca de la Cruz is a town about 20K from Calasparra.There are 5 Holy Cities in the world, Jerusalem and Rome are well known. Caravaca de la Cruz is not so well known. For 8 centuries pilgrims have been travelling to Caravaca de la Cruz to venerate the 'Vera Cruz', a piece of wood belonging to the cross on which Christ was crucified. In 1988 the Pope awarded Caravaca de la Cruz the 'Jubilee Year'. This means that every 7 years 'Jubillee Year' is celebrated. 2010 will be the next Jubilee Year the main celebrations taking place in May. Accommodation in and around the area will be scarce. Caravaca life revolves around the city's medieval quarters, where at the centre is the castle and the church. There is a jumble of narrow streets crowded with cafes, bars and tiny shops selling local produce. Had a great paella at the restaurant by the sanctuary, which Cecilia and Arthur recommended to us.' February/March 2009 - L and R said 'The apartment was comfortable and nicely furnished. Cecilia and Arthur (the owners) were great in offering any information. A folder with things to see in the area was helpful. We loved Calasparra, the outstanding views and lots of nice walks. Ideally situated a couple of kilometres from the town of Calasparra with superb mountain views. Roof top solarium provides a great private space with table, chairs, sun loungers and BBQ. Large pool on the complex and a couple of bars and restaurants. Try the Moroccan bar for something different and highly recommend a meal at Andalus roof top restaurant. Cecilia and Arthur go out of their way to ensure a warm welcome and have a folder full of local information, day trips and things to do. It's really easy to experience the real Spain when staying in Calasparra. We will definitely be back and highly recommend to family and friends. Thanks for a lovely stay.
