This CASA PARTICULAR is run by a special and sweet Cuban lady, Miriam. Together with her daughter and granddaughter, she understands perfectly how hospitality is put into practice. If you stay in CASA MIRIAM, you will have a better taste of Cuban life than the all-inclusive tourist staying in a luxury holiday resort.CASA MIRIAM has been built on the roof of a 5 story apartment building in HAVANA, in the CENTRO HABANA district, ideally located close to many attractions. Havanas famous promenade, the MALECON, is literally around the corner and is the place to be for everyone: from practising musicians and courting couples to trendy Havana youth as well as the obligatory fishermen. Stroll down the Malecón, which a cool sea breeze and a magic view make a must. Take the heat out of your day with a break in the comfortable, atmospheric and peaceful gardens of the Hotel Nacionale. Followed by a mojito and a tuna sandwich, you will be ready for Havana again.Street CALLE 23, also known as LA RAMPA, starts at the MALECON. Especially at night, the young, trendy Havana youth hang out here. Taste Cubas best ice-cream at the famous COPPELIA complex at La Rampa. When the weather is fine (which it is almost every day) you will see long queues of locals here, waiting patiently for a delicious ice cream scoop. As a tourist, you can avoid the queues and walk around them since you will have CUCs in your pocket. If you find this a bit decadent; be one with the Cubans, join the queue and make some new friends! The University of Havana is a 10 minutes-walking distance away. HABANA VIEJA or OLD HAVANA just over 20 minutes, which is still close. Here you will find the CAPITOLIO (a copy of the Capitol in Washington D.C.) and OBISPA STREET, a busy shopping street filled with tourists, pubs, restaurants and traditional ventures, such as old pharmacies. Once you walk into a side street, you will be surprised by the lively cafés and galleries. In HABANA VIEJA, nearby its many attractions, you will encounter a lot of traditional Cubans. Especially worth mentioning are the aged ladies standing out smoking huge Havana cigars, posing for a photograph (and, of course, a Cuban Convertible Peso). HABANA VIEJA is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and that is clearly perceptible. You will immediately know when you are leaving the area, as the street views change dramatically.
